A horrifying story has emerged from the world of crime, which leaves any Bollywood crime thriller behind. The Special Cell of Delhi Police has busted a high-profile international arms smuggling network (International Arms Syndicate), whose links extend to Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Dubai. The most shocking thing is that this entire ‘underworld’ like arms company was being run by an absconding ‘uncle-nephew’ duo.
This big operation of Special Cell started with a simple looking illegal country made pistol. The police had caught a young man named Fardeen with this pistol. But when Delhi Police started connecting the links, in just 15 days of investigation, a ‘Pandora’s Box’ opened which surprised even the intelligence agencies. The Special Cell conducted a swift raid and arrested 9 dreaded operatives associated with this international network. 23 dangerous weapons (foreign pistols, semi-automatic guns) and 92 live cartridges have been recovered from them.
Control of ‘uncle-nephew’ from Bangladesh and Dubai
According to Additional CP Pramod Kushwaha of Special Cell, Shahbaz Ansari is the mastermind of this entire dreadful syndicate. Shahbaz is absconding by jumping parole in a serious NIA case and is currently hiding in Bangladesh. At the same time, his uncle Rehan Ansari was funding and controlling this entire network while sitting in Dubai.
What was the ‘Pakistani route’ of arms smuggling?
Investigation revealed that this hi-tech gang used to import sophisticated foreign weapons from Pakistan. The consignment of these weapons was entered into India through the safe routes of Nepal border. After this, these deadly weapons were supplied to big gangsters of Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh. Not only foreigners, the gang also used to get consignments of country made weapons from Munger in Bihar. To escape from the police, these people used encrypted apps like ‘Signal’ and ‘Whatsapp’.
Mastermind’s name is linked to Moosewala murder case
The biggest suspense of this story is the mastermind Shahbaz Ansari. Shahbaz’s name has also surfaced in the murder case of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. After his arrest in that case, he was released on bail and escaped to Bangladesh.
15 days, raids in UP-Delhi and 9 arrests
After the arrest of Fardeen, the police caught Wasiq from Shastri Park. After this, jailed Wasim Malik was taken on remand, who revealed the Dubai-Bangladesh connection. Between 17 and 24 April, Delhi Police conducted raids at Ajmeri Gate of Delhi along with Khurja, Loni, Jaunpur, Secunderabad and Azamgarh of UP. During this, 9 people including Rahil, who handled the dealings, and Imran, an expert in smuggling from the Nepal border, were caught. 12 pistols were recovered from Mohammad Ahmed alone.
What next?
At present, the mastermind uncle-nephew (Shahbaz and Rehan) are on the police radar. The police is busy searching for their international links and the handlers who sent arms from Pakistan. In the coming days, many more big white collar faces are likely to be exposed in this case.
