News related to Kedarnath Dham: After 26 days of landslides and floods caused by heavy rains in Uttarakhand, the movement of horses and mules has started on the Gaurikund-Kedarnath footpath from Monday. Earlier, the footpath was repaired and the movement of devotees on foot was started from 16 August. With the movement of horses and mules starting, more devotees will now be able to reach Kedarnath Dham.
Rudraprayag’s District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that after the movement on foot, the path has now been opened for horses and mules as well. He said that the 19 km long path leading to Kedarnath Dham was damaged at 29 places due to the disaster on 31 July. Singh said that due to the speedy work being done under the direction and supervision of the district administration, the movement of horses and mules has also started on the path.
The Kedarnath walking route was destroyed due to a landslide
Rudraprayag’s District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that now the supply of ration and other essential items has also started through horses and mules. Due to landslides caused by rain on the night of July 31, the Kedarnath walking route was destroyed in many places, due to which more than 15 thousand devotees and local people trapped there were safely evacuated through an air and ground rescue operation that lasted for about a week.
The motorway between Sonprayag and Gaurikund is being repaired
Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that the work of repairing the motor road between Sonprayag and Gaurikund is also going on at a war footing, so that it can be opened for vehicles. He said that work is being done at a very fast pace to open the road. Very soon it will be opened for the people, after which the devotees will be able to travel easily.
