Nabanna Abhiyaan Rally Live Update: Mamata Banerjee government is once again in controversy over the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. This time the reason is an attempt to stop people from protesting. In fact, the people of Kolkata have announced a ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’ rally to get justice for the victim and to protest against this incident, but Mamata Banerjee government did not give permission for it.
At the same time, people are claiming to take out this rally at any cost today. Amidst all this, the police have made tight security arrangements. The police say that this campaign is illegal because it has not been given permission.
Around 4,500 jawans have been deployed at this point of West Bengal Police. 21 IG and DIG rank officers will be deployed. 13 SP or DC rank officers will be present. Also, 15 ADCP or SP rank officers have also been deployed in Nabanna and surrounding areas. Apart from this, more than two thousand policemen along with 22 ACP or Deputy ACP rank officers and 26 Inspector rank officers will be deployed in and around Nabanna.
The governor reminded the government of the Supreme Court’s decision
On the other hand, West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose said, “The reports of suppression of peaceful protests declared by the student community of West Bengal through some instructions of the government are very worrying. I would urge the government to remember the strong decision of the Supreme Court of India, in which the court had appealed to peaceful protests and not to allow misuse of power. It has also reminded that in democracy there can be a silent majority, not a silent majority.”
