Manipur Violence: Violence has once again erupted in the state after bodies of three of the six people missing in Manipur were recovered near the river. After which the protesters on Saturday attacked the residences of three ministers and six MLAs of the state, after which the government imposed prohibitory orders indefinitely in five districts.
Meanwhile, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has targeted the Central Government over the violence taking place in Manipur. He said that neither Manipur is one, nor is Manipur safe.
Targeted at PM Modi
Taking a dig at PM Modi, he wrote on social media, “Under your double engine government, neither Manipur is united, nor is Manipur safe. From May 2023 onwards, the state is going through unimaginable pain, division and increasing violence, which has left its people The future has been destroyed. We are saying this with full responsibility that it seems that BJP deliberately wants to burn Manipur because of their disgusting divisive politics.
‘You failed in Manipur’
He further said that at least 17 people have lost their lives since November 7. New districts are being added to the list of conflict-hit areas and the fires are spreading to the bordering northeastern states. You have completely failed in the beautiful border state of Manipur. Even if you go to Manipur in future, the people of the state will never forgive. The people here will never forget that you left them to their own devices and never entered their kingdom to alleviate their sufferings and find solutions.
Center imposed AFSPA
On November 14, the Home Ministry reimposed AFSPA in areas under Sekmai and Lamsang in Imphal West district, Lamlai in Imphal East, Moirang in Bishnupur, Limakhong in Kangpokpi and Jiribam in Jiribam district. At the same time, the Manipur government requested the Center to review and remove the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in the areas falling within six police station areas of the state.
