Rajnath Singh on Uniform Civil Code: On Monday (June 19) in Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh targeted the opposition for the ongoing ruckus regarding the Uniform Civil Code. He said that the Uniform Civil Code is part of the Directive Principles of our country. He questioned why there is a controversy over this.
Rajnath Singh said, “It is already implemented in Goa. Now the Law Commission is taking opinion about this in the whole country. People of minority community are also saying that we will not take an aggressive stand on UCC.” Taking a dig at the opposition, he said, “UCC is being raised for vote bank. We cannot divide the country on the basis of Hindu-Muslim, Sikh-Christian under any circumstances. Many people of Muslim community also vote for us.” But some people mislead.”
Who said what in opposition?
Actually, UCC is being opposed by the opposition parties. However, there are many leaders who are in its support. Shiv Sena (UTB) president Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday (June 18) said that a Uniform Civil Code for all citizens is welcome but wondered whether Hindus would be adversely affected by its implementation.
Congress leader Salman Khurshid said about the Uniform Civil Code, “We do not know what Uttarakhand is doing, we will have to change the law of the country for the Uniform Civil Code. Along with this, he said that this should be done by looking at the 2024 elections Used to be.”
