The moon could not be seen in Delhi on Monday due to the presence of clouds, but the Bakrid moon has been sighted in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, chairman of the Markji Chand Committee in Lucknow, said on Monday (June 19) that the moon of the month of Zilhij has been sighted. Bakrid will be celebrated on 29 June.

The Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Dr. Mufti Mukarram Ahmed told PTI that the moon could not be sighted in Delhi and surrounding areas due to rain and cloud cover, but the moon was visible in some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. .

Bakrid will be celebrated on June 29

He said that the sighting of the moon of Zul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar, has been confirmed in parts of Uttar Pradesh like Azamgarh, Varanasi and Mau. Therefore, the festival of Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on 29 June. The Islamic calendar has 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of the moon. The beginning of the Islamic month Maah e Zilhijj is significant.

This festival is celebrated on the 10th day of moon sighting.

It is the twelfth and last month of the Islamic calendar. This month holds importance for Muslims all over the world because it is the month in which the Haj pilgrimage to Mecca takes place. The festival of Bakrid is celebrated on the 10th day after the sighting of the moon, and Eid ul Zuha or Azha or Bakrid is celebrated two months and nine days after Eid ul Fitr. The moon of Eid al-Adha was sighted in Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia on Sunday itself. Bakrid will be celebrated on June 28 in Gulf countries.

Why is Bakrid celebrated?

Bakrid is a very important festival in Muslim religion and it is called the festival of sacrifice. According to Islamic belief, Prophet Ibrahim was going to sacrifice his son Ismail on this day on the orders of Allah in the path of Allah, then Allah gave life to his son and there an animal was sacrificed in whose memory this festival is celebrated. is celebrated.

In the three-day festival, people of the Muslim community sacrifice animals according to their status, which are not banned under Indian laws. Special care is taken of the poor on Bakrid. There are three parts of the sacrifice given on Bakrid. Out of this, one part is given for oneself and the remaining two parts are given to the close ones and the poor and the needy.
