Congress MP Shashi Tharoor wrote on social media, ‘I am saddened to see such pictures of statues destroyed by anti-India rioters at the 1971 Martyrs Memorial Complex, Mujibnagar. This has happened after outrageous attacks on Indian cultural centers, temples and Hindu homes at many places. However, there were also reports of Muslim citizens protecting other minority homes and places of worship.’

India stands with the people of Bangladesh in this difficult time, but such anarchy can never be forgiven.’
