Supreme Court’s decision on Aligarh Muslim University, Khalid Rashid Firangi said – it will have an impact

AMU News: Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, has reacted to the decision on the issue of minority status of Aligarh Muslim University. He has said, ‘We welcome the decision of the Supreme Court in which it has rejected its 1967 decision in which it was decided that AMU will not be a minority institution. I think the Supreme Court’s decision will go a long way in deciding the minority status of AMU.

Mahali said, ‘I think all the historical facts are in front of us and we will present them before the bench of three judges. The biggest question is that if Aligarh Muslim University is not considered a minority institution, then which institution will be considered a minority institution and what will happen to Article 30A?

The seven-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court on Friday pronounced four separate judgments in the case of minority status of Aligarh Muslim University. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, who is heading the Constitution bench, said that four separate judgments in this regard. There were votes, including three dissenting judgments. The Chief Justice said that he wrote the majority judgment for himself and Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra. Justice Chandrachud said that Justice Surya Kant, Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma have written separate dissenting judgments.
