The doors of Dwarkadhish will remain closed amidst the threat of Biparjoy, NDRF deployed at sensitive places

Cyclone Biaprjoy: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding the fast moving cyclonic storm Biparjoy towards India. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of this storm hitting Kutch in Gujarat on Thursday (June 15). In view of this, the administration in Devbhoomi Dwarka district has decided to keep the Dwarkadhish temple closed for devotees.

There is a warning of Biparjoy’s impact in 9 states of the country and serious impact in 9 districts of Gujarat. The local administration has decided to keep the famous Dwarkadhish temple in Devbhoomi Dwarka district closed for devotees in view of Biparjoy hitting near Jakhau port in Kutch, Gujarat on Thursday (June 15).

What did the local administration say?
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the maximum wind speed in this cyclone can reach up to 150 kilometers per hour. Dwarka’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Administrator of Dwarkadhish Temple Trust, Partha Talsania said that the temple will remain closed for devotees and visitors on Thursday. He said that this decision has been taken for the safety of the people in view of the cyclone warning.

‘…but Gir Somnath temple will remain open’
Though devotees will not be allowed inside the temple premises, daily rituals will be performed inside by the priests and people will be able to watch it on the temple’s website as well as social media handles. The famous Somnath temple in Gir Somnath district will remain open on Thursday, but the trust managing it has appealed to the devotees not to visit the temple.

As the powerful cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ headed towards the Gujarat coast, authorities evacuated 50,000 people from vulnerable areas and deployed disaster management personnel for relief and rescue operations, officials said. He said nine talukas of Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar and Rajkot districts received more than 50 mm of rain in the 24 hours ending Wednesday morning.
