The real reason behind Vinesh Phogat joining Congress after she received offers worth crores has come to light!

Wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat is contesting on a Congress ticket from Julana assembly seat in Haryana. She believes that power is necessary to survive. Former BJP MP and former WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is also surviving due to political power.

In an interview given to English newspaper ‘The Indian Express’, Vinesh Phogat said, “I had decided not to join politics but later I realized that I will have to join politics for change. People had said that my reputation will be ruined but that did not happen. On the contrary, people are giving me blessings. Coming to politics is God’s wish and I am walking on the path of destiny.”

Regarding politics, Vinesh Phogat said, “There is no comfort in politics but we got into it two years ago (in the context of protests). Our feet were stuck in that filth. In such a situation, you either sink or swim. If you swim, then you save many people. We have responsibility and until you are not in power, you cannot do anything.”

According to Vinesh Phogat, “I was advised to start a non-governmental organisation (NGO). I was getting offers of crores (in terms of sponsorship). You can take care of the family with a large amount of money but in this situation you cannot help others. I did not want to sit at home with money. How could I solve problems? We need power. You have to enter the system.”

Regarding the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vinesh Phogat said, “His silence on the issue of wrestlers was very disappointing. He keeps meeting athletes regularly and keeps doing something or the other, but keeping quiet despite knowing everything does not show his love for sports and players. He only wants to show his strength.”

When asked about Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh (UP), athlete Vinesh Phogat told the English newspaper, “He is a very honest person. He speaks very simply and straight forward.”

Explaining the reason behind joining the Congress, Vinesh Phogat said, “Deepender Hooda has always promoted sports in Haryana. His phone was among the first calls that came after the Tokyo Olympics. There are only two major parties (BJP and Congress) in the country and Haryana.”

Vinesh Phogat told that she has met senior Congress leaders. The way they used to talk to her was very different. She felt as if they were talking like her parents. During the protest, the wrestlers got great respect from the Congress. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra used to send boxes of kheer and top level vegetables. Her husband also used to come to the protest site. They did not do any publicity for it.
