JP Nadda On Vinesh Phogat Disqualification: On Vinesh Phogat being out of the Olympics, Health Minister JP Nadda has said that the whole country is with her. The Health Minister said, “This is a question of the country, the whole country stands with her. It is unfortunate that we are trying to divide this also into pro and anti.”
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister JP Nadda said, “The whole country stands with Vinesh Phogat. The PM called her “Champion of Champions” yesterday and the PM’s voice is the voice of 140 crore people. Unfortunately, we are dividing it between the ruling party and the opposition. Unfortunately, the opposition does not have any concrete issue that they want to discuss which the ruling party is ready for… I want to assure you that the Government of India, the Sports Ministry and the IOC tried to find redressal at all forums.”

On the walkout of the opposition, the Rajya Sabha Chairman said- we are also in pain…
The opposition walked out of the Rajya Sabha on the issue of Vinesh Phogat being disqualified from the Paris Olympics. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said, “They (the opposition) think that they are the only ones who are heartbroken. The whole country is in pain because of the girl (Vinesh). Everyone is talking about this situation but to cash in on it, to politicise it is the biggest insult to that girl. That girl still has a long way to go.”
‘If we have majority, we would send Vinesh to Rajya Sabha’
Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda has demanded an inquiry into the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat. He said, “What was the reason for disqualifying Vinesh Phogat, it should be investigated. Today (in Haryana) a Rajya Sabha seat is vacant. If I had the majority, I would have sent her to the Rajya Sabha.”
