America Works With Bangladesh: The US has said that it is ready to work with the interim government of Bangladesh. An interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus may be sworn in on Thursday.

“We are following the developments in Bangladesh and we have clearly seen the appointment of Muhammad Yunus as the leader of the interim government,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters at his daily news conference on Wednesday. In response to questions about the rapidly changing developments in Bangladesh, he said, “We believe that the interim government will play an important role in establishing long-term peace and political stability in Bangladesh.”

Meanwhile, a foreign ministry spokesperson told PTI that all decisions regarding the interim government should respect democratic principles, the rule of law and the will of the people of Bangladesh. “We understand that Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has agreed to lead the interim government of Bangladesh. We are ready to work with the interim government as it plans a democratic future for the people of Bangladesh,” the spokesperson said in response to a question.
