Opposition meeting: Opposition parties are trying to unite for the Lok Sabha elections. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called a meeting on June 23 in Patna regarding the future strategy of the opposition parties. Meanwhile, Chief of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party and former CM Ghulam Nabi Azad said about the meeting of the opposition parties that it would be of no use. It will be beneficial only when there is something for both the parties.
“There could be a difference in the profit share for both – it could be 50-50 or 60-40 – but in this case, both the parties have nothing to give to the other,” he said. Giving an example, the former Union minister said that the TMC has nothing to offer to the Congress in West Bengal.
What did Ghulam Nabi Azad say?
Former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “Congress and CPIM do not have a single MLA in West Bengal. In such a situation, why would CM Mamta Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress (TMC) form an alliance with these two parties? What will TMC get from this. Similarly TMC does not have any MLA in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. What will Congress give to TMC in these states?
He further said that there is not even a single Congress MLA in Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, here CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy does not have MLA in any state, what will Congress give him. In such a situation, opposition unity is nothing but just a photo opportunity.
What did you say about BJP?
Ghulam Nabi Azad also said that he wants the BJP to be defeated, but no opposition parties have a presence in any place other than their own state. He said that I think there is more possibility of an alliance after the elections.
Azad further said that the Congress is benefiting in the state where the state leadership is strong. The difference is that earlier the central leadership used to run the states and now the state leadership runs the central leadership.
Many leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will attend the meeting of opposition parties.
