PM Narendra Modi on Bangladesh Violence: Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Independence Day During his address from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of the Independence Day, after speaking on all the issues related to the country, he also talked about the ongoing violence in Bangladesh and the attacks on Hindus. PM Modi said, “The safety of Hindus in Bangladesh should be ensured. India wants there to be peace in neighboring countries. What happened in Bangladesh is very worrying.”
PM Modi further said, “I hope that the situation there will soon become normal. It is also expected that the interim government will ensure the safety of the Hindu and minority community there. In the coming days too, we will have positive thoughts about Bangladesh’s development journey.”
‘It is normal to be concerned as a neighbouring country’
PM Modi said that whatever has happened in Bangladesh, it is normal to be concerned about it as a neighbouring country. I hope that the situation there will soon become normal. The countrymen want that the safety of the minority Hindu community there be ensured. India always wants that our neighbouring countries walk on the path of peace and happiness. We are committed to peace. In the coming days, our good wishes will remain in Bangladesh’s development journey, because we are people who think about the welfare of mankind.
Hindus are being continuously targeted
Let us tell you that Bangladesh is going through an unstable political situation since Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and came to India amid growing protests on August 5. Minorities, especially Hindus, are being constantly attacked there. Many Hindus have been killed, while many are missing. On Tuesday (August 13, 2024), a clash broke out between people of the minority Hindu community protesting with posters of their family members missing during the violence and Bangladeshi army personnel. All these Hindus were protesting outside the Jamuna State Guest House in Dhaka, where Bangladesh’s interim government chief Mohammad Yunus is staying.
