The Tamil Nadu government has decided to give one year of maternity leave to the women police personnel of the state. Along with this, it has also been decided that after becoming a mother, the duty of the female police personnel will be posted for the next three years at a place where she will be able to work while taking care of her child. Chief Minister MK Stalin said on Friday that women police personnel in the state police force will get one year of maternity leave and on returning to work, they will be posted at a place of their choice for a period of three years to raise their children.
It is worth noting that after assuming power in 2021, the DMK government had increased the period of maternity leave for its employees from nine months to one year.
Decision taken on the request of policemen
Making the announcement after distributing President’s Medals, Union Home Minister’s Medal and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Medal to meritorious police officers and personnel at the Rajarathinam Stadium, the Chief Minister said, “Women police will be given one year maternity leave and after returning to work, they will be posted in place of their husbands or parents for three years to take care of their children.” He said the move was being taken on the request of personnel in the police department.
Special training for cyber crime
CM Stalin said “The professional skills of women police will be enhanced to deal with crimes against women and children and to handle cyber crimes effectively.” “Your duty and responsibility is huge. It is your duty to protect the people. Discharge your duties with dedication and work not only to reduce crimes but also to prevent crimes,” he said.
Tamil Nadu should become a crime free state
Stalin said Tamil Nadu should be made a state free of drugs and crime. He advised that “if any violation takes place, arrest the culprits.” He was happy to note that the state is leading in various sectors, including industrial development, as law and order is being well maintained here.
