Jaishankar sitting in Washington gave advice to Joe Biden, said- Americans should not feel bad

S Jaishankar US Visit: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday (October 1, 2024) told Americans that they should not feel bad when India reacts to his comments on its internal matters. Foreign Minister Jaishankar, in response to a question at America’s top think tank Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said that if you look at the level of two countries, two governments, then we think it is important that there is mutual respect for democracy. He said, “It cannot be that one democracy has the right to comment on another and this is part of promoting democracy at the global level, but when others do so, it becomes foreign interference.”

America should not feel bad – Jaishankar

In response to a question, the Foreign Minister of India said, “Foreign interference is foreign interference, no matter who does it and where it happens.” So, this is a difficult area and my personal view, which I have shared with many people, is that you have every right to comment, but I have every right to comment on your comment. So I shouldn’t feel bad when I do this.

The Foreign Minister said, “America and India are among the leading countries in the world which have democratic governance systems. Here in America, many issues are debated in our democracy, but many times American leaders make comments about India’s democracy.”

S Jaishankar spoke on India’s foreign policy

S. Jaishankar said that the world has become very globalized and as a result the politics of any country does not necessarily remain within the national boundaries of that country. “Now the United States certainly makes a special effort to make sure that doesn’t happen,” he said. Now in a globalized era where global agendas are also globalized, there are parties who want to shape the politics of not only their own country or their own region and social media, economic forces, financial flows, all these give you the opportunity to do so.
