Karnataka Cabinet Minister D. Sudhakar passed away, was undergoing treatment in the hospital, DK Shivakumar said.

Karnataka minister and Congress leader D. Sudhakar has passed away. He was undergoing treatment for a long time. On this occasion, Deputy CM DK Shivkumar has expressed deep grief over the demise of state minister and Congress leader D. Sudhakar. Posting on social media platform X, he said that D. Sudhakar was ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment. DK Shivakumar wrote, ‘Today I am deeply saddened by the demise of our cabinet colleague D. Sudhakar. He was very close to us. D. Sudhakar had given excellent public service as MLA from Hiriyur, Minister in-charge of Chitradurga district and Minister of Planning and Statistics of the state.

DK Shivakumar further said that the contribution of D. Sudhakar will always be remembered and his demise is a big loss to the party and the politics of the state. D. Sudhakar was considered an important face in Karnataka politics. He worked for the public while holding many important positions and was popular among the people due to his simplicity and working style.

D. Sudhakar Senior leader of Karnataka Congress

D. Sudhakar was a senior leader of Karnataka Congress and MLA from Hiriyur assembly seat of Chitradurga district. He started his political career from Congress Party. In the year 2004, he was elected MLA for the first time from Challakere assembly seat on Congress ticket. Later, due to delimitation, Challakere seat became reserved for Scheduled Tribes. After this D. Sudhakar continued politics from Hiriyur seat. However, Congress did not give him the ticket at that time. Despite this, he contested the elections as an independent candidate and won in the year 2008. After this he did B.S. Supported the Yediyurappa led government and held the post of Social Welfare Minister.
