Now CBI will have to take permission for investigation in Tamil Nadu, government’s decision after action on minister

Tamil Nadu CBI Probe: After the arrest of Tamil Nadu Electricity and Excise Minister V. Senthil Balaji, the state government has taken a big decision on Wednesday (June 14) related to central agencies. In Tamil Nadu, permission has now been made mandatory for the CBI to investigate cases. The government said that Tamil Nadu withdraws general consent from the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate cases in the state.

The central agency will not have to take the permission of the state government to conduct an investigation in Tamil Nadu. However, the investigation by the ED or the National Investigation Agency will not be affected by the state government’s move. Earlier, nine states including West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Punjab and Rajasthan have already taken this step. Tamil Nadu minister V. Senthil Balaji was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday in connection with the cash-for-jobs scam in the Tamil Nadu Transport Department.

ED arrested the minister of Stalin government

Balaji is the first minister in Chief Minister MK Stalin-led government in Tamil Nadu to face such action from a central agency. Chief Minister Stalin said on this matter that when Balaji has assured full cooperation in the investigation, then what is the need for long interrogation. He said whether such inhuman action of ED is justified. Balaji was in the AIADMK at the time of the crime in 2014-15 and was the transport minister at that time.
