Shocking case in Hyderabad NPA, case against fellow IPS trainee on complaint of female IPS trainee

A female IPS trainee at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (NPA), Hyderabad, has filed a complaint of sexual harassment against her fellow IPS probationer Uday Krishna Reddy. The woman officer alleges that Reddy threatened her at knife point and spread her private videos, after which a case was registered at Attapur police station in Hyderabad.

According to the complaint lodged at Attapur Police Station in Hyderabad, this incident is related to two IPS trainees who are on probation at the National Police Academy. The woman officer alleges that Reddy sent her obscene messages, abused her in foul language, took her to a room, held a knife to her neck, recorded private videos and later sent those videos to her husband, due to which she had to go to the police.

What allegations did the trainee officer make??

In her written complaint, the trainee officer said that Reddy repeatedly sent her obscene messages and insulted her with derogatory comments. She also alleged that Reddy forcefully called her to a room on the academy campus, threatened her by holding a knife to her neck and recorded private videos without her consent, which were later sent to her husband.

Police started investigation in the case

Based on the complaint, Attapur police have registered a case against trainee IPS officer Udaya Krishna Reddy and started investigation on charges of sexual harassment, criminal intimidation and related offences. The investigating officers are examining the messages and videos mentioned in the complaint. It is expected that they will record the statements of the complaining woman, the accused and possible witnesses of the academy.

These allegations have created a stir at the prestigious National Police Academy, where future IPS officers for the country are trained. It is learned that senior officials are closely monitoring the investigation as the case raises serious questions about security, behavior and internal systems to deal with harassment at one of India’s top police training institutes.
