Chhath Puja 2024: Chhath Puja is starting from 7th November 2024 this year. This is the biggest festival of Bihar and Jharkhand which is celebrated with great pomp throughout the country. It has special importance in Hindu religion. This festival starts on Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month and continues till Saptami Tithi. This festival which lasts for four days is very special and important for everyone. It starts with Nahay-Khaye. In Chhath Puja, along with Surya Dev, his sister Chhath Maiya is also worshipped.
There are many beliefs regarding Chhath Puja which makes this fast even more special. The fast observed on Chhath Puja is considered one of the most difficult fasts. This fast is observed for the children for their long life, good health and happiness and prosperity. A waterless fast of 36 hours is observed. This fast is observed by women and it also has some strict rules which have to be followed.

Keep these things in mind-
- Fasting women should not eat anything without offering Arghya to the Sun God. On the first and second days, take food only after offering water to the Sun and women observing fast should sleep on the ground only.
- Any kind of silver, steel and plastic utensils should not be used in worship. Use only earthen stove and utensils in this puja.
- Do not cheat while preparing the puja prasad even by mistake and do not eat anything before making the prasad.
- Take special care of cleanliness during puja. During the 36-hour fast and puja, wear clean clothes and keep in mind that you touch the puja items with clean hands only.
- Do not consume any non-vegetarian food, garlic and onion during Chhath Puja.
- Do not eat food at the place where Prasad is made.
- Those observing Chhath fast should control their speech and do not abuse anyone, otherwise you will not get the results of the puja.
