Mahalaxmi Vrat 2024 Date and Shubh Muhurat

Mahalaxmi Vrat is observed five days after Ganesh Chaturthi. According to the Panchang, it starts from the Shukla Paksha Ashtami Tithi of Bhadrapada month and ends on the Krishna Paksha Ashtami of Ashwin month (Ashwin 2024). In this way, Mahalaxmi Vrat is observed for the entire 16 days.

This year the Mahalakshmi fast will start from 11 September 2024 and will end on 24 September 2024. On September 11, the Mahalakshmi fast will begin with Ayushman and Preeti Yoga.

On the day of Mahalaxmi Vrat, first of all take a bath and wear clean clothes. After this, prepare for the puja. A poor Brahmin woman lived in a village. She used to worship Lord Vishnu regularly. Pleased with the devotion of the devotee, Lord Vishnu appeared before her and asked the devotee to ask for a boon. The Brahmin woman said, I am very poor and I wish that Goddess Lakshmi resides in my house.

Vishnuji told the Brahmin woman a way to invite Goddess Lakshmi to her home. Lord Vishnu told her that there is a temple some distance away from your house where a woman comes and makes cow dung cakes. You should invite that woman to your home. Because she is Goddess Lakshmi. The Brahmin woman did the same and invited that woman to her home. That woman told the Brahmin woman to worship Goddess Lakshmi for 16 days.

The Brahmin woman worshipped Goddess Lakshmi for 16 days. After this, Goddess Lakshmi resided in the house of the poor Brahmin woman. After this, her house was filled with wealth and prosperity. It is believed that the 16-day long Mahalakshmi fast started from then. The person who keeps the Mahalakshmi fast for 16 days and worships Lakshmi ji, Goddess Lakshmi is pleased with him and blesses him with happiness and prosperity.

Method of fasting on Mahalaxmi (Mahalaxmi Vrat 2024 Niyam)

Mahalaxmi Vrat is observed for the entire 16 days. Although it is not a Nirjala Vrat, but food intake is prohibited. You can observe this fast by eating fruits. The Udyapan of the fast is done on the 16th day (Mahalaxmi Vrat 2024 Udyapan). If you are unable to observe Mahalaxmi Vrat for 16 days, then you can observe the first 3 or the last 3 fasts.
