Muharram 2026: On the fifth day of the holy month of Moharram, a grand procession of alms was taken out in the Dargah area of ​​Ajmer on Sunday with aqidat, devotion and religious enthusiasm. During this time the entire area was filled with the sound of drums, cymbals and cymbals. Thousands of Aqidat members present Khiraj-e-Aqidat to the martyrs of Karbala and remembered the loyalty, bravery and sacrifice of Hazrat Abbas Alamdar.
More than 100 small and big alums along with the chief alum participated in the procession taken out on this special occasion of Moharram. People from different localities and families arrived with their respective alams and became a part of the religious tradition. The enthusiasm of the devotees during the procession was palpable.
The procession started in the traditional manner from Imam Bargah:
After Asr Namaz, a procession of alums left from Imam Bargah located at Chhatri Gate. A large number of people participated in this procession which started with traditional customs. The center of attraction in the procession were the lamps which the devotees were carrying on their hands and shoulders.
The fifth date of Moharram is considered to have a special connection with Hazrat Abbas Alamdar. For this reason, many families, following the age-old tradition, took part in the procession with alums from their homes. The process of offering prayers and salutations continued throughout the route, due to which an atmosphere of faith and reverence was visible everywhere.
Ashikan-e-Hussain expressed deep faith:
Ashikan-e-Hussain and Ashikan-e-Khwaja, dressed in green, were especially visible in the procession. The devotees were moving forward reciting Nauha and Salaam in the memory of the martyrs of Karbala. Many people had Imam Jamin tied on their arms, while some devotees were wearing shackles on their legs, demonstrating their deep faith and dedication.
A large number of children were also seen participating in this religious event. Children included with the families were seen carrying alums, which clearly showed the involvement of the new generation towards religious traditions.
Panjatani Pak’s paw becomes the center of attraction for devotees:
The ‘Panjatani Pak Ka Panja’ included during the procession was the center of special attraction. Devotees were seen visiting it with respect and honor all along the way. Many people made their wishes and prayers here.
According to religious beliefs, the claw of Panjetani Pak is considered a symbol of love, respect and faith towards Ahle Bait. For this reason it has special importance during Moharram.
Women performed Ziyarat from the windows and roofs:
A large number of women devotees were present on the rooftops and windows of the houses located on the procession route. The women visited the Alams with full respect and reverence and sought blessings.
The procession passed through the prescribed route via Langar Khana street and sixteen stairs and reached Imam Bargah again before the time of light. Here the alms were consecrated and a salute was presented in honor of the martyrdom of Karbala. At the conclusion of the program, Tabarruk was distributed by Anjuman Syedzadgan.
Mini Urs atmosphere continues in the Dargah:
Meanwhile, the religious atmosphere of Mini Urs is also maintained in Ajmer Dargah. A large number of pilgrims reached Dargah Sharif on Sunday. The process of offering prayers to Baba Farid continued, due to which the Dargah area remained vibrant till late night.
On the occasion of Baba Farid’s Urs, a special Niyaz was organized in Khadim Mohalla, where Khichra was prepared and distributed among the devotees.
According to Anjuman Syedzadgan’s Naib Sadar Syed Vader Mustafa Kibria, the month of Garib Nawaz will be celebrated on 6thof Moharram. On this occasion, the program will start with the recitation of Quran Sharif in the Ahata-e-Noor of the Dargah on Monday morning at 9 am. After this, Shijrakhwani, Salato-Salaam and special prayers will be offered for peace, brotherhood and prosperity in the country and the world.
