God is worshiped in 3 ways in Hindu religion
In Hindu religion, Gods and Goddesses are not worshiped in the same way, but in different ways. The difference between these methods is mainly based on the number and extent of treatments (services) included in the puja.
- Panchopachar Puja – This is the simplest form of worship, in which God is worshiped through five main offerings: scent, flowers, incense, lamp and naivedya. This method is more popular in daily worship.
- Dashopchar Puja – It consists of ten stages of worship, which are considered a little more elaborate than Panchopachar. This method is followed on special occasions or fasts and festivals.
- Shodashopachar Puja – Shodashopachar is the most complete and detailed method of worship, in which the service of the Lord is done in 16 different stages. In this, every process from invocation to immersion is performed in detail, making the worship more effective and classical.
The basic idea of this method is that the worshiper treats his deity as a guest and serves him in 16 sequential steps, which manifests the highest form of devotion and dedication.
