In India, Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on 5 September. This day is the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and it is also a day to express respect and gratitude towards teachers.

Kabir Das Dohe Meaning in Hindi on Teachers Day

There is no giver like the Guru, there is no beggar like the head.
The wealth of three worlds was given as a gift by the Guru.

In this couplet, Kabir Das describes the great bond between Guru and disciple and says that there is no donor like Guru and no beggar like disciple. Guru gave knowledge and charity which is more than the wealth of three worlds.

Guru Govind both are standing, whose feet should I touch?
I am grateful to my Guru who showed me Govind.

The meaning of this couplet is that, if ever such a situation arises in life when both Guru and Govind (God) are standing in front of you, then you should bow your head in front of Guru only. Because Guru only introduces us to Govind. Therefore, Guru’s place is higher than Govind.

There is no fear in the three worlds…

Respect your Guru and follow his orders.
Kabir says that such a servant has no fear of the three worlds.

Kabir Das says that, always consider the Guru as the crown of your head and obey his orders. The disciples or servants who do this do not have any fear of the three worlds.

Intro to Guru Paras, all saints know.
He turns iron into gold, the Mahant has done this.

Kabir Das says that just as a stone turns into gold by the touch of Paras, similarly an ordinary or ignorant person also becomes great under the shelter of a Guru.

I will turn all the earth into paper, all the pens into wood,
Even if I use ink from the seven seas, the Guru’s qualities cannot be written.

Kabir says that suppose this whole earth is like a blank paper and all the woods of the forest are pens. The water of the seven seas is ink. Even then it is impossible to describe the Guru by combining all these, because the glory of the Guru cannot be expressed in words.

This body is a creeper of poison, Guru is a mine of nectar,
Even if you give your head to find a Guru, it is still cheap.

In this couplet, Kabir Das compares the disciple to a poisonous vine and the Guru to a mine of nectar and says that the knowledge and glory of the Guru is so invaluable that even if the disciple sacrifices his head to get the blessings of the Guru, it would be a cheap deal.

Guru’s order comes, Guru’s order goes.
Kabir says that he is a saint, who is free from the cycle of birth and death.
