Mahadev remained absorbed in meditation in a calm manner. His blue throat became an immortal symbol of sacrifice, patience and the supreme sacrifice made for the protection of the world.

To calm the intense burning sensation of Halahal poison, the gods offered cool water and milk to Lord Shiva. Mahadev wore the moon on his head and gave place to Mother Ganga in his hair. Since then, devotees remember the sacrifice, compassion and divine glory of Neelkanth Mahadev by offering water, Belpatra and Dhatura.
