Earlier, after the crushing defeat in the assembly elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve had demanded Uddhav Thackeray to leave Mahavikas Aghadi. He had said that UBT should contest the civic elections including BMC alone. At the same time, on this issue, Sanjay Raut said, the three parties of Aghadi will jointly review the defeat in the assembly. However, decisions related to civic elections will be taken later.

Shiv Sena (UBT) got only 20 seats in the assembly elections. The party suffered huge losses in Mumbai also. Uddhav Thackeray remained silent on this defeat, but many leaders of his party held Congress responsible.
