Afzal Ansari News: The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday asked the jail superintendent to provide the ‘fitness’ certificate of Afzal Ansari, convicted in a gangster case, and posted the bail application of former MP Afzal as the next date of hearing on July 12. , 2023 fixed. Afzal Ansari has filed an appeal in the High Court against the decision of the special MP MLA court of Ghazipur. Afzal Ansari, brother of mafia Mukhtar Ansari, was convicted by the lower court in a 2007 case under the Gangster Act and sentenced to four years.

When the hearing on the matter began on Tuesday, Afzal Ansari’s counsel requested for adjournment saying that his client was suffering from several ailments including heart ailment and his condition was not good. On this, the court of Justice Rajbir Singh asked the concerned jail superintendent to submit the medical report by the next date of hearing.

Afzal Ansari has appealed against the sentence

Earlier, the court had accepted for hearing Afzal Ansari’s appeal against the decision of the special MP-MLA court of Ghazipur. The Ghazipur special court, in its judgment dated April 29, 2023, convicted Afzal Ansari along with Mukhtar Ansari in a 2007 gangster case and sentenced Afzal to four years and Mukhtar to 10 years imprisonment. Afzal Ansari’s MP had also gone away after this decision of the court.

Afzal Ansari is lodged in Ghazipur jail

Afzal Ansari is currently lodged in UP’s Ghazipur jail, he is suffering from sugar and high blood pressure. Recently, due to the heat in the jail, his health had also deteriorated, after which the medical team also reached the jail for his checkup. Afzal Ansari has appealed in the court against the sentence of four years in the gangster case. If the court gives a decision in his favor, then his MP can be returned, because the by-elections for his Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat have not been announced yet.
