Sonam Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar for the last 19 days in protest against the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. Politics is heated in the country regarding this. Meanwhile, AIMIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has demanded that the government should consider the demand of Sonam Wangchuk. At the same time, Delhi High Court directed the officials to keep an eye on the health of activist Sonam Wangchuk every day and provide her medical help if needed.
Owaisi made this demand from the government
Regarding Sonam Wangchuk, AIMIM Chief Owaisi said, ‘We hope that there should be some discussion on this soon and we hope that her health is good. We demand from the Government of India to seriously consider the demands of Sonam Wangchuk Saheb. Sonam Wangchuk’s weight has dropped by more than nine kilograms on Thursday (July 16, 2026) and her doctor has warned that due to her prolonged hunger strike, she has reached a critical stage and it may start affecting her organs.
Wangchuk released video message
This information about Wangchuk’s health came a few hours after his video message which he released late on Wednesday night. In this video message, he refused to end his hunger strike despite the appeal of political party leaders and supporters and said that ending it without any response from the government would send a wrong message. Instead, he appealed to the people to strengthen the proposed Parliament march of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) on July 20.
Regarding his health, Wangchuk said in the video message that the medical examination conducted so far has not indicated any immediate danger. He said, ‘My condition is not such that I will die in two-four days. Several medical tests have been conducted and the results are quite normal considering the 18-day hunger strike. ECG was also done and that too is fine. I can continue this for many more days.
