Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Maharashtra NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule said on Friday (September 27) that her fight will not end until she gets back the party and election symbol formed by her father Sharad Pawar. Sharad Pawar’s party NCP broke in July last year when Ajit Pawar and 8 MLAs Eknath Shinde Had joined the government.
Later, the Election Commission gave the party name and election symbol ‘clock’ to the faction led by the Deputy Chief Minister, while Sharad Pawar’s faction was named NCP (SP) and allotted the election symbol ‘man playing the trumpet’.
Supriya Sule’s attack on Mahayuti
Addressing a Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) rally in Anushakti Nagar in north-east Mumbai, Supriya Sule said, “My fight will not end until I give Pawar Saheb back the party he founded and his election symbol.” Taking a dig at the ruling coalition, he said, “What happened to those people who were allergic to Nawab Malik?”
Supriya Sule also took a jibe at Nawab Malik
Malik is the sitting MLA from Anushakti Nagar and has extended his support to the Ajit Pawar-led faction. Malik was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in February 2022 on charges of grabbing a property in Kurla here with the help of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s sister. Malik was released on bail last year.
Expressing disappointment over Malik’s closeness to the ruling coalition, Sule said, “I feel sad when I see Nawab Bhai with the BJP. You have joined hands with the party which put you in jail?” Sule said the (undivided) NCP had given Malik full support during his stay in jail, during court hearings and when he was hospitalized due to various ailments. Gave cooperation.
The Lok Sabha MP from Baramati further said, “I have seen the tears of Nawab Bhai’s wife and his children. Nawab Bhai may have forgotten the injustice done to him by BJP, but I have not forgotten. Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Chandrakant Handore also addressed the gathering.
