In the last more than 12 years i.e. in 2023, this figure would have increased a lot. A few days ago, a large section of tribals in the neighboring state of Jharkhand also took to the streets to protest against this.

How much impact will UCC have on tribals?

How will the Uniform Civil Code affect tribals? Murli Manohar Dewangan, an expert on tribal matters, was discussed on this issue and he said that this law will not affect the tribals. Citing the constitution, he said that it has been kept in mind that it will be implemented leaving the special area. He said that according to Article 44(1-2) of the Indian Constitution, their customary laws would apply as before. This has already been included in the PESA Act, in which the decision of the Gram Sabha will be supreme.
