WhatsApp Chat Lock Feature: You can now hide an individual chat from others on WhatsApp. For this, the company has started rolling out the ‘Chat Lock’ feature. If you have not received this update yet, then you will get it in the coming few days. To use this feature, you have to go to the chat window on which you want to lock. You will get the option of Chat Lock as soon as you go to that user’s profile. As soon as you turn it on, the security setting you have turned on for the mobile will be applied on this chat as well.
If you have set a passcode, then this chat will also have a passcode and this chat will be shifted to a different folder. The notification content of chats that you keep locked will not be visible on the main screen. To read the new message, WhatsApp will ask you to open the secret folder, only after which you will be able to read the chats.
but here’s the trouble
One problem with this feature is that if someone knows the password of your mobile, then he can access your WhatsApp secret folder because the chats also have the same lock which is on the main mobile phone screen. Although the company says that it will bring updates in the coming days and users will be able to set custom passwords for chats. This feature has been rolled out to improve the privacy of the people. People have started getting this feature on both iOS and Android.
