‘All Indian diplomats are on notice’, said Canada’s Foreign Minister, comparing India with Russia

India-Canada relations: Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie said the rest of the Indian diplomats in the country are also clearly on notice after the Indian High Commissioner in Ottawa was named as a suspect in the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Jolie said the government will not tolerate any diplomat who violates the Vienna Convention or puts the lives of Canadians at risk. India on Monday expelled six Canadian diplomats and announced that it was recalling its high commissioner from Canada.

Accusing India: He said that the Canadian National Police Force has linked Indian diplomats to murder, death threats and intimidation in Canada. Earlier, India had rejected Canada’s allegations of linking his name to the investigation of Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder. But Canada had said that it had expelled six Indian diplomats.

‘Comparison of India with Russia’

In Montreal, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie compared India with Russia and said, ‘We have never seen anything like this in our history. This level of international repression cannot happen on Canadian soil. We have seen this elsewhere in Europe. Russia has done this in Germany and Britain and we must stand firm on this issue.

When asked if other Indian diplomats would also be expelled, he said, “They are clearly on notice. Six of them have been expelled, including the High Commissioner in Ottawa. The others are mainly in Toronto and Were from Vancouver And frankly, we will not tolerate any diplomat who would violate the Vienna Convention.”
