However, there is no clear information yet regarding their location and condition. It was also claimed on social media that the plane by which Assad left Damascus had crashed or was targeted and shot down. There has been no official confirmation of these rumors yet.
According to The Warzone report, the 12-day-long rebellion in Syria has forced President Bashar al-Assad to leave the capital Damascus. Assad escaped on an IL-76 plane of the Syrian Air Force, but it was not confirmed whether the plane arrived safely. There are claims regarding this that the plane either crashed or was deliberately shot down. Some people have also expressed the possibility of a technical fault in the plane.
The plane was going to Russia!
It is being said that Bashar al-Assad had set out to go to Russia, but there was an alleged accident with his plane. According to Egyptian journalist Khaled Mahmoud, the sudden drop in altitude of the IL-76 aircraft indicated that it may have been “targeted”. There are reports of the plane falling near Lebanon after disappearing from radar. However, these claims have not been confirmed.

After Assad’s disappearance, different claims are being made, it is being said on social media that his plane was shot down as he was trying to flee the country. Speculations intensified when the open- Source flight trackers revealed that the last plane to leave from Damascus was an Ilyushin-76 plane, whose flight number was Syrian Air 9218, which is believed to be the same plane on which Assad was traveling.
It is being said that a plane had taken off shortly before rebel fighters captured the Damascus airport. According to flight data, the plane flew east before turning north. However, its signal disappeared shortly after circling over Holmes.
New turn in Syria’s civil war
Syria’s civil war has taken a new turn as rebel forces have captured Damascus and ousted Bashar al-Assad from power. This is the end of 13 years of rule and conflict, which resulted in heavy casualties. Parts of the Syrian army are still fighting rebels in Hama, Homs and Deraa.
