Bangladesh Crisis News: In protest against the student movement, Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign from the post of Prime Minister and leave Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina is currently in India. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Tuesday (August 13) submitted a letter to the United Nations Resident Coordinator, appealing for an impartial investigation into the “mass murder” committed by the Awami League government during the protests that removed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power.
According to a report in The Daily Star News, a delegation of Bangladesh Nationalist Party handed over a letter to Gwyn Lewis, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Office at Gulshan in Bangladesh on Tuesday afternoon (August 13), in which they have appealed to Sheikh Hasina to investigate the mass murder during the student protest.
Sheikh Hasina will have to face trial
After submitting the letter, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury while talking to local media said that Awami League party president Sheikh Hasina and her party leaders will have to face trial. Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury further said that there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that all of them will be brought to justice for the mass murder. He said that we have officially submitted the letter today on behalf of the party.
Appealed to UN and interim government to investigate- BNP
BNP leader Ameer Khasru said that we have requested the United Nations to conduct a clean, fair and credible investigation. We have also urged the interim government to ask the United Nations for such an investigation.
UN should investigate these murders with utmost seriousness- BNP
BNP said that we appeal to the United Nations to expose the full gravity of these killings through a fair, transparent investigation under international standards. These massacres directly sponsored by the government are being condemned worldwide. If we fail to expose these incidents through proper investigation, another authoritarian regime may emerge in the future.
