In which countries is assisted dying legal?

Other countries that have legalized assisted suicide include Australia, Belgium, Canada, and parts of the United States, where rules on who is eligible vary by jurisdiction. More than 500 British people have ended their lives in Switzerland, where the law allows assisted death for non-residents.

Assisted suicide differs from euthanasia, which is permitted in the Netherlands and Canada, in which health care practitioners administer a lethal injection at the patient’s request under specific circumstances.
