Foreign Money In Bangladesh: After massive protests in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina had to resign and flee the country, after which the interim government of Mohammad Yunus was formed. As soon as the Yunus government was formed, it was as if the neighboring country had won a lottery. After the restoration of peace, so much money is coming into the neighboring country that the government would have never expected. According to the Dhaka Tribune report, the money received by Bangladesh from migrants was more than two billion dollars in the first 28 days of August. Seeing this, it can be understood that the neighboring country is once again getting ready to run on the track.

Bangladesh Bank’s remittance report said that expatriate Bangladeshis have sent $2.07 billion through formal channels till August 28. In August 2023, the remittance flow was $1.43 billion. At the same time, during the student movement in Bangladesh i.e. in July 2024, this amount was the lowest in the last 10 months. In the month of July, remittance in the neighboring country was around $1.91 billion, but due to student movement and holidays, banks were closed in Bangladesh from 19 to 23 July.

Not only this, broadband internet services were shut down for 5 days continuously. Apart from all this, if we talk about mobile internet service, it was also shut down for 10 days, due to which a huge drop was seen in remittances.

India also had to bear the brunt

India has also had to bear the brunt of the coup in Bangladesh. Bangladesh used to get electricity supply from Indian companies. Now these Indian companies are also facing problems. Actually, five Indian power companies owe Bangladesh one billion dollars. If we talk about this amount in Indian currency, it comes to about 8400 crore rupees. If the biggest amount of any company is stuck in this, then it is Adani Power.

Not only this, SAIL Energy India, PTC India, NTPC, NTPC DVC, NTPC Tripura and Power Grid are also included. India has always helped the neighboring country in every difficulty. Adani Power has a 1.6 GW power generating plant in Godda, Jharkhand, from where electricity is supplied to Bangladesh through a special line.
