The Indo-American Community of USA (IACU) on Tuesday said that over 24,000 Indian-Americans have signed up to attend the mega event to be addressed by PM Modi. Modi is scheduled to address a high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly here on September 26.

Indian-Americans from 42 states likely to participate

The IACU said that Indian-Americans from at least 42 states are expected to attend the event. A key organizer of the event said, “We are committed to ensuring that as many people as possible can participate in this historic event.”

Prominent Indian-Americans from the entertainment and arts sector will participate

IACU said that the aim of the ‘Modi and US’ program is to organize an important gathering celebrating the diversity of the Indian-American community. Apart from the speech of Prime Minister Modi, the program will also have cultural performances and prominent Indian-Americans from the field of industry, science, entertainment and arts will participate in it.

First participated in 2014

In September 2014, PM Modi addressed a program of Indian diaspora at Madison Square Garden in New York. This event took place a few months after PM Modi assumed the post of Prime Minister. During that time also PM Modi had reached America to participate in the high level session of the United Nations General Assembly. After that, in 2019, he addressed the ‘Howdy Modi’ program in Houston. During that time, the then US President Donald Trump also participated.
