‘I will impose heavy duty on these three countries as soon as I take oath’, Trump announces, is India also included in the list?

US President-elect Donald Trump said he will impose a 25 percent tariff on all products coming from Canada and Mexico and 10 percent on Chinese goods to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into the US. Donald Trump informed on his social media platform ‘Truth’ on Monday (November 25, 2024) that after assuming the office of President on January 20, he will first sign executive orders imposing tariffs on these three countries.

He said, ‘As everyone knows, thousands of people are coming through Mexico and Canada and bringing with them a lot of crime and drugs. Right now a caravan of thousands of people coming from Mexico comes through our currently open border. Donald Trump said, ‘On January 20, as one of my many first executive orders, I will sign all necessary documents to impose a 25 percent tariff on all products coming into the United States from Mexico and Canada….’

He said, ‘This fee will remain in place until the drugs, especially fentanyl, and all illegal aliens stop doing all this in our country. Both Mexico and Canada have the full authority and power to easily resolve this long-standing problem. Donald Trump said, ‘We demand that they use this power and unless they do so, they will have to pay a very heavy price.’

Apart from this, the newly elected President accused China of failing to stop the flow of drugs into America. He said, ‘I have talked to China several times about the huge amount of drugs, especially fentanyl, being sent to America, but no solution has been found.’ Donald Trump alleged, ‘Representatives of China told me that they would impose maximum punishment, death penalty, for any drug smuggler caught doing so, but unfortunately they never followed through and drugs continue to enter our country, especially Mexico. Through this, people kept coming here on a large scale.

He said, ‘Until they stop doing this, we will continue to impose a 10 percent duty on all their products coming into the United States, in addition to any additional duty.’ Donald Trump said that the executive order in this regard will be signed on January 20, 2025, the first day of his assuming the presidency.
