‘If you want better relations…’, China angry over allegations of tampering in US elections

President donald trump Accused China of running a large-scale campaign to interfere in the US elections. He said that Beijing wants to weaken his presidency and wants to get the record of millions of American voters. China has rejected Trump’s allegations. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that it has never interfered in US elections and has no intention of doing so. China has said that America should stop making absurd allegations.

China called Trump’s allegations fabricated

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said, ‘The allegations made by America are completely fabricated. Such statements have been made to defame China. We have no interest in interfering in American elections and have never done so. Lin Jian was asked whether this incident could have an impact on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the US in September. In response to this, he said, ‘We urge America to stop making China an issue in its elections and do something to improve China-US relations.’

US President Trump visited Beijing in May 2026 and met Xi Jinping. Both the governments had talked about adopting a new framework to handle bilateral relations. Trump had invited Xi Jinping to visit the US in September and Beijing had confirmed that Xi Jinping had accepted the invitation.

Trump accused China of breaking into election data

Trump said, ‘The People’s Republic of China conducted the largest breach of election data in history, as a result of which China illegally obtained the files of 220 million American voters.’ He claimed that according to these records, the stolen data included voters’ names, addresses, phone numbers, political party preferences and other personal information, which could have been used for voter registration and other alleged illegal activities.

President Trump said the intelligence also alleges that Beijing used contacts with large American companies to persuade business leaders to oppose his government. He further claimed that the records said the Chinese government wanted to identify American journalists who criticized them and paid them to produce more negative reports.

China bought records of millions of voters: Trump

Trump alleged that American intelligence agencies learned for the first time in 2020 that millions of voter records in 18 states had been bought, stolen or hacked by China. However, the President also alleged that the agency did not give this information to the President or Congress.

Trump said, the Chinese government wanted the American President to lose the next election. Beijing had opposed his government’s tariffs on Chinese goods and its national security policy. The President also alleged that FBI raw intelligence from 2020 showed that Chinese activities included efforts to cast illegal ballots for Joe Biden. He claimed that dozens of CIA and National Security Agency reports related to China’s alleged election activities were hidden from his daily intelligence briefing.
