Jinping government’s problems increase in China, investigation started against the third consecutive defense minister

China Defense Minister: Investigation has started in the corruption case against China’s Defense Minister Dong Jun. Dong Jun is the third Defense Minister of China against whom investigation is being conducted. According to the Financial Times report on Wednesday, this incident has created a stir among the top ranking officers of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

It was reported in the report that Dong Jun is the third Defense Minister of China against whom allegations of alleged corruption are being investigated. Let us tell you that this investigation is going on according to the American officials. However, when Reuters requested China’s Foreign and Defense Ministries to comment on these allegations, they did not immediately respond.

More than nine officers have been removed so far

China’s army has started a comprehensive anti-corruption campaign since last year. Under which till now more than nine PLA generals and many defense industry officials have been removed from the National Executive Body.

It is noteworthy that former Navy Chief Dong Jun was appointed as Defense Minister in December 2023. His previous Defense Minister Li Shangfu was removed from the post after only seven months in office.

Refused to meet US Defense Secretary

According to Reuters, last week Dong Jun refused to meet US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin during the meeting of defense ministers in Laos. He said that this decision was taken because of American actions on Taiwan. Which the Pentagon chief called unfortunate on Wednesday (November 27).

Dong Jun was not promoted to CMC

As Defense Minister, Dong Jun is responsible for China’s military diplomacy. He recently resolved a case regarding US-China military relations. In September, the two countries held theater-level commander talks for the first time. However, he was not promoted to China’s highest level military body, the Central Military Commission (CMC), in a major Communist Party plenum this year.
