Bangladesh Crisis News: After the coup in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and fled to India, but now former PM Sheikh Hasina has suffered another major setback here. In fact, the interim government of Bangladesh has decided to cancel all diplomatic passports, which also include passports of former ministers, MPs and their family members of the Awami League government.
The Yunus government has cancelled not only Sheikh Hasina’s but also the diplomatic passports of former MPs of her party Awami League government. The security branch of Bangladesh’s Home Ministry announced the decision on Wednesday (August 21) evening and said that all diplomatic passports issued to MPs during the previous administration will be cancelled.
Know the reason behind cancellation of passport?
The interim government has also given some reasons behind the cancellation of passports, in which it is said that the new interim government has registered more than 30 cases of murder, massacre and kidnapping against Sheikh Hasina, who has been the PM of the country thrice. These include 26 cases of murder, 4 cases of massacre and one case of kidnapping. Therefore, it is necessary to cancel the diplomatic passport to impose restrictions on her. Along with this, the passports of the rest of the MPs issued during her tenure have also been canceled.
3 more cases filed against Sheikh Hasina
At least three more cases were filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal on Wednesday. In these, the ousted Prime Minister has been accused of crimes against humanity and genocide during the recent anti-reservation protests in the country. According to the report of ‘The Daily Star’ newspaper, two lawyers filed three separate complaints on behalf of the parents of 3 students who were killed during the massive protests of students against the controversial quota system in government jobs.
Apart from Hasina, 49 others including top leaders of parties under the Awami League-led coalition, former ministers, police members and others have been named in the complaint. Apart from these, about 500 unknown leaders and workers of the Awami League and its front organizations have also been accused.
