He begged Pakistan. Only then the Tashkent Agreement was signed to stop the war.

The war was stopped after the Tashkent Agreement between India and Pakistan on January 10, 1966. Lal Bahadur Shastri was very happy with this and just 12 hours after the agreement, he got a heart attack due to happiness and died on 11 January 1966.
