Performing concert without hijab proved costly, Iranian singer arrested

Iranian Female Singer got Arrested : According to the Times of Israel report, a 27-year-old Iranian singer Parastu Ahmadi has been arrested for hosting a virtual concert on YouTube. Actually, Iranian singer Parastu has been arrested for performing a virtual concert without wearing hijab.

Milad Panahipour, lawyer of Iranian singer Parastu Ahmadi, said that Parastu died on Saturday (December 14) in Sari city of Mazandaran province, about 280 kilometers from Iran’s capital Tehran.

Case registered after online posting of concert

Iranian singer Parastu Ahmadi had posted his virtual concert online on December 11, 2024 (Wednesday). In which she was seen in a sleeveless black dress without hijab with four male musicians. After which a case was registered against the Iranian singer on Thursday (12 December).

Iranian singer Parastu Ahmadi shared the video of his virtual concert on YouTube on December 11. In a post along with the video, Parastu wrote, “I am Parastu, a girl who wants to sing for the people I love. It’s a right I can’t ignore; to sing for the land I love. I love you very much.” He further wrote, “Here in our beloved Iran, where history and our myths are intertwined, listen to my voice in this virtual concert and imagine your beautiful motherland.” These virtual concerts of Iranian singers have received more than 1.6 million views so far.

Apart from the singer, two male musicians were also arrested

According to the report, Parastu’s lawyer also confirmed that two male musicians present during the concert, Sohail Faghieh Nasiri and Ehsan Beiraghdar, were also arrested in Tehran on the same day.

There are strict laws regarding hijab in Iran

Very strict laws have been made regarding hijab in Iran. It was made mandatory in the country under law after the Islamic Revolution of 1979. While many women wear the hijab as a symbol of religious faith, others see it as a restriction on personal freedom.
