PM Modi’s Ukraine Visit: India’s PM Narendra Modi has gone on a visit to Poland and Ukraine. Modi will start his visit from Poland, which will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to this country in 45 years. After this, he will reach the Ukrainian capital Kiev by road and rail on 23 August. This is the first time that an Indian Prime Minister will visit an active war zone. This will also be the first visit of an Indian head of government after Ukraine became independent in 1991.

PM Modi said in his statement that I am leaving on an official visit to Poland and Ukraine. This visit of mine is taking place on the occasion of completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations with Poland. Poland is our economic partner in Central Europe. Regarding the Ukraine visit, the PM said that he is looking forward to sharing his views with President Zelensky on a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict. According to the Indian Foreign Ministry, the PM will be on an official visit to Poland from 21 to 23 August. After this, Modi will leave for Ukraine on 23 August. This visit of PM Modi is taking place after his visit to Russia for the India-Russia summit on 8-9 July with Russian President Vladimir Putin. At that time Modi had told Putin that solutions cannot be found on the battlefield and his visit to Ukraine is being closely monitored to see what steps India can take for a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Modi will meet Prime Minister Donald Tusk
Modi said he is visiting Poland at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations. He said Poland is a major economic partner in Central Europe. Apart from meeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to take forward the bilateral partnership, Modi will also meet members of the Indian community in Poland.
