Ship catches fire in Strait of Hormuz, British Army issues warning

A massive fire broke out on a commercial ship early Monday off the coast of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz. The British Army’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center has issued a warning confirming the incident. However, the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Iran counterattacks, targets Jordan and Gulf countries

In response to the US attacks, Iran has intensified missile and drone attacks on US allies in the Middle East. The Jordanian army shot down several Iranian missiles in the air on Monday. Jordan has summoned the Iranian ambassador in protest against this attack. Neighboring country Israel has also become alert after the missiles fired targeting Jordan’s Aqaba city. The Israeli military has warned that missile debris could fall on their territory, prompting air raid sirens to be sounded for the first time in weeks. Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed al-Budawi has accused Iran of ‘war crimes’ for attacks on civilian infrastructure and facilities. Attacks on civilian targets, such as bridges and power plants, are prohibited under international humanitarian law unless they are being used for military purposes.
