UAE Visa Amnesty: The UAE has taken an important step to reduce the number of people staying in the country for longer than the prescribed period. In fact, the UAE has said that it will give concessional airfare to such people to go back to their country.
Agreements have been signed with airlines like Emirates, Etihad and Air Arabia regarding discounted air fares. In this regard, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) said that people availing this scheme will be offered flight tickets at low prices.
For whom is this scheme?
Major General Obaid Muhir bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai, also confirmed this move of the government in a conversation with Khaleej Times. He said, the concession in airfare is for those who want to leave the country but are financially weak or are surrounded by financial constraints. He said that people will be sent back in flights of Emirates, Etihad and Air Arabia."text-align: justify;">Till when will you be able to avail the benefit
It was informed that it will start from September 1 and will remain effective till October 30, 2024 i.e. for about two months. Expired resident and tourist visas have been included in this amnesty program. It was told that people born without any documents will also be able to take advantage of this government program and they will also get a chance to improve their condition. The important thing is that people who have absconded from their sponsor will also be able to apply under this program."text-align: justify;">Who will not get the benefit?
Officials said that people who have entered the UAE illegally will not be able to apply. The ICP assured that no overstay charge or exit fee will be levied on people. It was said that there will be no restriction on re-entry of people leaving the country, people returning with proper visa will be able to come to the UAE again.
Exit permit will be issued directly
According to ICP, if people have their biometric fingerprints in the record, then they just have to submit the online departure permit application and they will be issued the exit permit immediately. Whereas, people whose fingerprints are not in the record will be issued the exit permit after completing a process.
Where will the centers be?
Centers for biometric fingerprinting have been set up in Abu Dhabi at Al Dhafra, Suwaihan, Al Maqam and Al Shahma. This process can be done at the GDRFA center in Al Aweer in Dubai. People leaving the country will get an exit or permit pass which will be valid for only 14 days after release.
