On behalf of the interim government, it was said that the statement given by India regarding the safety of Hindus and temples in Bangladesh is completely baseless and unnecessary. There have been such incidents in the country on which government officials have taken prompt action to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities during festivals.

In fact, in a statement dated October 12, India’s Foreign Ministry had asked the Bangladesh government to ensure security for Hindus and all minorities and their places of worship (especially during Navratri). The Indian Ministry of External Affairs had also alleged that there is a pattern of damaging and desecrating temples and deities in Bangladesh. In response to this, the Bangladesh government has said that these allegations are completely baseless and it considers the claims to be completely unjustified.

Government officer had taken action

The Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh said that there were only a few such incidents in the country on which government officials took prompt action to ensure the safety of Hindus and minorities during the festival. The government also said in the statement that communal harmony and peaceful co-existence, liberalism and democracy are the old characteristics of Bangladesh, which unite all the people in the country. Durga Puja being organized peacefully in 32 thousand puja pavilions in the country is proof of this.

Statement given on the stolen crown of Mother Goddess

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs also said in the case of theft of the golden crown from the Jogeshwari Kali temple that the chief priest of the temple performed regular puja and rituals till 2.30 pm and till then the crown of the goddess was still inside the temple. Investigation is also going on in the matter as to how the priest and staff of the temple left the property without security, while four people have been arrested so far in the case.
