This visit is considered very important for Maldives, because President Mohammed Muizzu had spoiled his relations with India because of China. It is believed that through this visit, Maldives will try to improve its relations.
At the same time, Mohammad Muizzu can also visit India in September. Earlier, Muizzu had attended the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi. Jaishankar will inaugurate a big project in Maldives. The Foreign Ministry of Maldives said in its statement that New Delhi and Male will inaugurate projects under the High Impact Community Development Project and the Line of Credit facility of India’s Exim Bank.
Jaishankar recalled relations with Maldives
In Maldives, Foreign Minister Jaishankar met his counterpart Musa Zameer. Jaishankar reminded the history of relations with Maldives. He said that Maldives comes first in our neighborhood policy. It is important for our Vision C as well as commitment to the Global South. Neighborhood is a priority for India and Maldives is in the neighborhood. During this, the leaders of both the countries also discussed security, trade and digital cooperation. 6 projects were inaugurated in the areas of street lighting, children’s speech therapy and special education. This will benefit Maldives a lot.
Agreement on UPI
He informed that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the ministries regarding digital payments in Maldives. A decision has also been taken regarding the training of 1000 civil service officers. Let us tell you that India’s UPI is very popular abroad. That is why the government is also putting a lot of emphasis on it.
