US Boy Shot Himself By Pistol: An incident came to light in Utah, America, in which a 5-year-old child accidentally shot himself. The incident happened on August 22 when 5-year-old Brooks Thomas Wilson went to his parents’ bedroom while playing, where he saw a loaded 9 mm pistol. The child picked up the pistol and unfortunately it fired, causing a fatal injury to his head.
Brooks’ parents were present at home at that time. Hearing the gunshot, Brian and Christian Wilson rushed to the room. Seeing the condition of the injured son, Brian gave him CPR. After this, he was waiting for medical help. After help arrived, the emergency medical team also tried CPR, but Brooks died due to his injuries.
My parents’ life changed suddenly
Lieutenant Mike Wall of the Santaquin Police Department said that this shooting appears to be random, there is no sign of foul play. The family of the deceased Brooks says that this is an unimaginable tragedy. They said that we have lost the dearest member of our family but he has faith in Jesus Christ and he will go through this trial. They said that we are grateful to all those who stood with us, but this incident has taught us a lesson and we deeply regret it. They said that we never imagined how quickly life would change.
What Utah law says
The parents also said that they hope that this incident will inspire others to take precautions to ensure the safety of their children. At the same time, according to the Giffords Law Center, Utah law does not require prosecution of those who leave unattended weapons with minors.
