Awami Party should work hard and contest elections again: Home Affairs Advisor to Interim Government
Speaking to reporters in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka, M Sakhawat Hossain said, “The ousted people are trying to regroup, whatever you (Awami Party) do, do not do anything that endangers your life. The people of this country no longer accept you.”
Advising the Awami League to be reorganised, he said, “You reorganise your party. The way a political party exists. When there is an election, you are elected. When people vote, you will go to the polls.”
‘I have a lot of respect for the Awami Party’
The Bangladeshi Home Affairs Advisor advised the Awami League to improve its image and said there was no point in fighting and dying in the country. He said, “There is no point in fighting here. We do not want more people to die.”
Urging to protect the image of the Awami Party, M Sakhawat Hossain said, “This party has contributed a lot to Bangladesh. We cannot deny this. It is a very big party. I have enough respect for the Awami League. Once upon a time, this party was a place of hope for people like us. Please don’t come under pressure, don’t ruin such a great party. It is the asset of Bangladesh.”
